Clyde Woodworth Elementary (TK-5)
3200 W. 104th Street, Inglewood, CA 90303
Woodworth Elementary School’s claim to fame took place in 2004, when students performed so well on state tests that they raised their Academic Performance Index (API) scores by an amazing 71 points—then the highest growth in the Inglewood Unified School District! To this day, students continue to earn high test scores, with Woodworth Elementary ranking 10 out of 10 among similar schools statewide.
Woodworth offers a wide variety of programs and activities for students including tutoring and intervention classes, Gifted and Talented Education, Peer Mediators, English Language Development, and drill team. Parents support their children’s education through school leadership committees and parent education classes.
Community partnerships are part of what makes Woodworth Elementary School shine. During the 2005-2006 school year, Watt Developers presented Woodworth with a check for $7,000 to be used towards a new school marquee, new curtains for the multipurpose room, and the school’s campus reforestation project. Partnerships with numerous businesses, organizations, and individuals continue to bring resources and activities to the Woodworth campus.
In 2006, the Woodworth community gathered for the first of three tree plantings that will take place at the school, with a total of 60 trees to be planted on campus in the end. The project was made possible by the U.S. Forest Service, LA County Office of Education, Tree People, Home Depot, Starbucks, and Woodworth teachers. In the end, Woodworth students will enjoy a shady and beautiful school environment that they helped to create with their own hands.
